The Sussex Hotel is a reimagined city pub that brings warmth and texture to the heart of Sydney’s CBD. Working with Sonenco Hotels, we transformed the existing venue into a series of layered spaces that feel relaxed yet refined. Natural light filters through generous windows, highlighting tones of timber, brass and stone. The palette is soft and grounded, with tactile finishes that invite touch and create a sense of ease. The layout encourages flow between casual dining, bar and terrace, offering a place that works just as well for a quick drink as it does for a long lunch. The result is a city local with quiet confidence, comfortable, contemporary and full of character.

The Sussex Terrace extends the spirit of The Sussex Hotel into a sunlit open-air setting. Designed as a calm retreat within the city, it combines generous greenery, warm textures and a relaxed flow between indoor and outdoor dining. Working with House Made Hospitality, we created a space that feels effortless and social, a place to linger over lunch or unwind at golden hour. Soft earthy tones, timber and stone connect the terrace to its urban surroundings while keeping a sense of lightness and air. The atmosphere shifts gently through the day, from bright and casual to something more intimate after dark.
