Lee Mathews Armadale

The new Armadale store was inspired by Lee Mathews' new vision. The details, textures, and graphics from the new collections influenced the concept. The Japanese influence is evident in the spatial elements. The design took inspiration from Junichiro Tanizaki's "In Praise of Shadows," focusing on the beauty of darkness and light. Instead of hiding shadows, they were embraced as a design element. The space guides customers through a sensory experience. By using one architectural element throughout the store, customers are enticed to explore the areas between each textured fin. The store's focal point leads customers from the street, through the retail space, and into the spacious changing rooms.
